COVID-19 and GGC's Education Outreach

GGC’s focus is on the health and well-being of you, your students, and our instructors.

We are excited to be scheduling school visits for the Gene Machine, Helix Express, and Genetic Education Center for the 2022-23 school year! GGC continues to monitor the COVID environment and following are our current guidelines:

Gene Machine: Please note that the Gene Machine mobile lab is a compact space and social distancing is not possible. Our instructors may choose to wear masks, but if your school no longer requires mask wearing, you do not have to wear a mask when participating in the activities. Instruments, lab tables, and stools are cleaned frequently. No student will be allowed on board who is experiencing any symptoms of illness.

Helix Express: The Helix Express van allows us to bring equipment and activities into your classroom. Our instructors may choose to wear masks inside your classroom, but if your school no longer requires mask wearing, you do not have to wear a mask when participating in our visit. All equipment will continue to be carefully cleaned between each use.

Genetic Education Center: We are welcoming school groups to visit the Genetic Education Center on our Greenwood campus for talks and lab activities. GGC is currently requiring all visitors to wear masks while inside our facilities whenever social distancing is not possible. At this time, tours of our facilities are not available.

Thank you for supporting our program, and we appreciate your understanding of these policies. Please contact me directly should you have any questions about our current offerings.
