GGC Genetics Resident Awarded at ACMG

March 19, 2013–Caleb Bupp, MD, Clinical Genetics Resident at the Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) has been selected for a platform presentation at the upcoming
American College of Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) annual meeting. Bupp has also been chosen as the 2013 recipient of the ACMG Foundation/Signature Genomics
Travel Award given annually to a student or trainee presenting at the meeting. Dr. Bupp will be presenting “Twenty Years of Neural Tube Defect
Surveillance and Prevention in South Carolina.”

“I am very pleased to be presenting the important work that GGC has done regarding neural tube defect detection and prevention in South Carolina,” said
Bupp. “The success of the program is remarkable, and I am honored to be receiving an award recognizing this study.” Bupp graduated from the University
of Toledo Medical School and completed his pediatrics residency at the University of Louisville prior to coming to GGC. He is currently in the first
year of a two year residency program at the Center. He has also been recently accepted as a trainee member of the ACMG Education and CME Committee.

“Dr. Bupp has become a great asset to the GGC clinical division showing great promise with his clinical and research skills,” said Dr. Bob Saul, Director
of GGC’s residency training program. “We are pleased not only that he was selected to present this work on a national stage, but also that he was recognized
for his efforts through this award.”

GGC is well represented at the meeting being held March 19-23 in Phoenix, AZ. GGC faculty and trainees will be presenting two other oral presentations
as well as seven posters on various research projects including Fragile X syndrome and biochemical diagnostic testing.
