GGC’s Talitha Kay Honored by SC Chamber

Talitha Kay holding awardGREENWOOD, SC  – Talitha Kay, Assistant Human Resources Manager at the Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC), has been named the 2021 HR Rising Star by the SC Chamber of Commerce. The statewide award recognizes an individual with fewer than 10 years of professional experience in human resources who has already made an impact.

Kay is a 2014 graduate of Lander University with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Healthcare Management. She worked at GGC as a college intern and joined the Center as a Human Resources Generalist upon graduation. She was promoted to Assistant Human Resources Manager in 2020. In addition to her HR duties, Kay is part of the GGC COVID Task Force and the Center’s Inclusion and Diversity Advisory Council. She has also served as President of the Piedmont Area Human Resource Association (PAHRA).

“Talitha is a pleasure to work with and her delightful demeanor, professionalism, and initiative have endeared her to all of the employees at GGC,” said Steve Skinner, MD, Director of GGC. “She truly embodies the epitome of a human resources professional – working within our organization and the larger profession to improve our workplace and support our workforce every day. The award was presented at the statewide meeting of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in Myrtle Beach in September.

A Rare Beauty

The lobby of the JC Self Research Institute at GGC was transformed into a garden – of sorts. The art exhibit titled ‘Rare Roses’ consisted of 12 paintings that depict real roses with genetic variations. The series was created by Nicole Shannon, an artist from Greenville.
