Inspiration and Encouragement

Centered Around Philanthropy

Under the leadership of Dr. Roger Stevenson and Dr. Hal Taylor, and the generosity of Mr. Jim C. Self and the Self Family Foundation, the Greenwood Genetic Center was brought to life. Their support—along with investments from other early philanthropists—laid the groundwork for a transformative partnership with the state of South Carolina, which matched these private gifts. In 2003, the Greenwood Genetic Center Foundation was established to continue that legacy of generosity.
