Reserving the Mobile Science Lab

GGC’s Mobile Lab Outreach Program is full for the current 2025-26 school year.

We typically begin taking reservations in May for the upcoming school year. Dates do fill fairly quickly. Day trips can be within 90 miles of Greenwood (Upstate SC and Midlands). If your school is outside of that radius, we can make overnight trips. These are limited to once a month and ideally, we like to visit several schools nearby within the same week.

Please check our calendar for available dates before submitting your reservation. And please note there are fees associated with visits. These fees do not apply to Title 1 schools.

For more information about the Mobile Science Lab, please contact Leta M. Tribble, PhD, at (864)943.4170 or lmt@ggc.org.

Genetic Education Center

The best way to understand what happens at the Greenwood Genetic Center is to schedule a visit! The GGC welcomes students and other groups throughout the year for interactive, hands-on experiences. Learn how GGC operates, the research and clinical care activities we’re involved in, and the latest in diagnostic testing.

Students can engage in fun, entertaining, and educational scenarios giving them the opportunity to learn about genetic traits and disorders, understand lab techniques, consider ethics of genetic testing, and explore careers in the life sciences.

Teachers can select from multiple lab activities from basic biotechnology skills to advanced genetic disorder modules. Each module addresses STEM initiatives and South Carolina Science Standards. There are fees associated with visits. These fees do not apply to Title 1 Schools.

  • Professional Development Opportunities
The GGC Division of Education is available to coordinate and conduct workshops for teachers in your school or district. These events and conferences can be full day or half-day events and will focus on relevant genetic content. This is ideal for middle or high school science teachers and can be tailored to the specific needs of your group.
  • Teacher Workshops
The GGC Division of Education offers two day in-person workshops packed with hands-on activities to enhance teachers’ genetic education. Educators will learn engaging lab and classroom activities they can take back to their schools.
