The Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) is a nonprofit institute organized to provide clinical genetic services, diagnostic laboratory testing, educational programs and resources, and research in the field of medical genetics. We’re aiming to be a Center of Excellence in Medical Genetics serving as a resource for all who need genetic services or information, and working to reduce the prevalence and impact of genetic disorders.

Greenwood Genetic Center Foundation

The GGC Foundation directly supports the mission of the Greenwood Genetic Center in provide families and patients living with genetic disorders the access to compassionate care, innovative technology, educational resources, and world-class research. GGC was founded on philanthropy and we’re working to extend that generosity in all we do.

A Shared Mission

The Greenwood Genetic Center and Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) have developed a formal partnership to improve access to genetic services for patients and families across South Carolina and advance the diagnosis and treatment of genetic disorders. Faculty across both organizations are involved in numerous projects toward these shared goals. GGC’s President and CEO, Dr. Steve Skinner, serves as the clinical lead for MUSC’s Precision Health Initiative as well as the chair of MUSC’s Integrated Center of Clinical Excellence (ICCE) in Genetics and Genomics, a care model designed to improve the patient experience and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
