Greenwood, SC (February 12, 2026) – The Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) Foundation’s annual Keys for Care dueling pianos fundraiser struck all the right chords on January 22, 2026, raising over $55,000 in support of the Center’s Care Reimagined campaign. Held at the Greenwood Country Club, the sold-out event brought together community members, supporters, and sponsors for an evening of music, storytelling, and meaningful impact.

Guests clapped and danced during lively dueling piano performances, shook tambourines throughout the night, and enjoyed an atmosphere filled with energy and purpose. While the entertainment set the tone, the heart of the evening was found in the patient stories shared — powerful reminders of why access to genetic care and hope matter so deeply.

Attendees heard from Laura Bratton, who spent more than 30 years without a diagnosis before finally finding answers through GGC’s research. Her story reflected remarkable perseverance and the life-changing impact of understanding the “why” behind her condition.

The audience also met Abbie, whose parents shared by video how discovering the Greenwood Genetic Center and working with GGC President and CEO, Dr. Steve Skinner, a Rett syndrome specialist, transformed their family’s journey. For Abbie’s family, GGC has become more than a place for care — it is a home away from home and an extended family they continue to rely on.

“These stories illustrate what’s possible when expertise, compassion, and commitment come together,” said Cady Nell Keener, Executive Director of the GGC Foundation. “Because of the generosity in the room, we are able to expand access to care, deliver answers, and turn those answers into meaningful action for more patients and families.”

The success of the evening was made possible through the generosity of event sponsors including Countybank, Greenwood Capital, Lonza, Maynard Nexsen, and Self Regional Healthcare – as well as our table sponsors and event participants.
