COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information

The Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) continues to monitor the situation regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and has made operational changes to minimize the spread of the virus.

Our employees have been instructed on standard procedures to prevent the spread of this illness such as hand washing, social distancing, and staying home if they are exhibiting any symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or other contagious illnesses. We are also maximizing cleaning efforts in all of our offices. GGC has required all employees to be vaccinated unless they have a medical or religious exemption.

While many patient appointments continue to be held via telegenetics, GGC has returned to in-person visits for those who prefer face-to-face appointments and for situations where virtual visits may not be possible or ideal. Patients (over age 2) and family members coming to any of our offices are asked to wear a face mask whenever possible. If you need a face mask, one will be provided for you.

GGC’s Diagnostic Laboratories remain open to accept clinical samples with no delay in processing. Saliva swab kits can be ordered here to be sent to patient homes, and GGC has created a patient instructional video to assist in the collection of these samples.

GGC does not provide patient testing for COVID-19. If you are a GGC patient and are experiencing symptoms such as fever, coughing, and shortness of breath, contact your primary healthcare provider. Virtual evaluations for COVID-19 can also be arranged through several healthcare organizations across South Carolina. More information on these virtual services can be found here.  GGC is closely monitoring information from the CDC and assessing how this may further impact Center procedures and activities. Additional changes to our operations will be shared on this page.
